The Life Changing ‘Somnowell’ Anti-Snoring Device

Somnowell is a Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD) that has been created and developed to help people with snoring. The Somnowell device was recently featured on BBC 1 Goodnight Britain, and is now available at Ascent Dental Care Loughborough to offer our patients a truly effective and comfortable solution to snoring.

Somnowell works by holding your lower jaw and tongue in a forward motion while you sleep. This will stop the tongue from dropping back and blocking the airway passage, and stop the soft tissue from collapsing and causing the vibrations in the airway passage that lead to snoring.

Somnowell is made from a strong cobalt chrome alloy material that is comfortable to wear while you are sleeping, but also has the strength to last. The device is strong enough to survive general wear and tear and does have a good resistance against bacteria that can have adverse effects on acrylic and plastic devices.

Why Do We Snore?

Snoring happens while you sleep as the muscles that are located in the upper airway of your body relax, which in turn causes an obstruction and bottle neck of the airway passage. These obstructions will cause the sort tissue around the airway passage to vibrate, which causes snoring and the associated noise.
